Mini Session vs Full Session

Posted on

With the return of Mini Sessions at Gina Mabbitt Photography, I thought it would be a great time to explain the difference between the two, so you can decide what is best for you and your family!

Mini Sessions are great if you are on a budget, or just want to capture a few images for a milestone event, Christmas cards or just like the idea of a quick session. Full sessions are much more involved with planning and time to allow for everyone to get used to being in front of the camera to help us get those relaxed candid shots easier. They are an investment in your family memories, which will become gorgeous timeless artwork for your home. See more details below.

What is the Mini Session all about? This option is only available at a pre-determined date and location, chosen by me. They will be offered several times throughout the year. Short & sweet, packed full of as much fun as we can in a short time! Mini sessions are typically 15-20 mins long. You will be booked in at a set time and there are usually many sessions scheduled right after another, so being on time is important. If you have shy children that take more time to warm up, this is not the best choice for them. I love capturing the natural smiles and interaction with your children and when they are shy, they may just be starting to be themselves at the 15-20 min mark and it will break my heart to have to stop at that point! These sessions include a certain amount of images in full resolution and clients are able to choose their favorites from their private online gallery. Any extra images in your gallery can be purchased. Clients will receive anywhere from 10-30 images in their galleries.

What is the Full Session all about? This session is 60-90 mins long and tailored to your family. We will schedule it for a day that will work for your family’s schedule. Once booked in, I ask you to fill out the questionnaire and I use those answers to plan a session that is just for you. I provide you with a Family Session Prep Guide to help you prepare for the big day. I put a lot of time and energy into planning, chatting with you, gathering props and finding the perfect location to suit your family and the time of day & year. For the BEST light, I highly recommend this be scheduled for 60-90 mins before sunset. If you have a location in mind, I would love that (specially if it has great meaning to you!) and I will gladly check it out to be sure it will work with light etc. This session includes up to 2 locations (nearby each other) and can involve an outfit change if you like.  We do a wide variety of “poses”, we play, we snuggle, we relax and interact to get those natural looking photos that you love! Clients receive all the good ones, which is anywhere from 40 to 80, full resolution images in their galleries. Usually both in color and black in white – if the images suits. Images are fully edited to look their very best and are ready for print.

I hope that helps you choose the session that is right for you! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!!
